Nate Bauer

Predoctoral Research Fellow

Nate Bauer is a doctoral candidate in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education in the School of Education. Nate’s focus of study is public policy in postsecondary education, and he is very interested in financial aid policy and issues of access to higher education for low-income students. Prior to beginning the doctoral program, Nate worked as an assistant director in financial aid administration at the University of Michigan, where he implemented and interpreted federal, state, and local policy initiatives. He is very interested in continuing to improve the federal student aid system and removing barriers to initial college enrollment for low-income students. Nate received a BS in interdisciplinary studies in social science from Michigan State University and a MA in educational policy and leadership studies from the University of Iowa.
